kynlee's weight and car seat?

I took Kynlee in today to get her weighted she is 16 pounds now. She was 15 lbs 8 oz on Dec 16th so she is gaining a little.

I have a question for everyone???

When did you put your kid in the next size car seat? Did everyone wait until their kid was 1 year and 20 pounds?? I also can't decide if I should buy a pink cute car seat or get a blue one that can be for a boy or a girl so then when or if I have boys I can use it???

I've been wondering that too, because Avery is getting close to 20 pounds. I'm going to ask her doctor when I go on the 12, so I can let you know what he says. I don't think they are supposed to face forward until a year though.

I've really been thinking about getting Avery a convertible car seat too, because I'm worried about her being safe in her infant seat now that she's getting bigger. I also think it will be really nice when she can face forward. I think she will enjoy riding in the car a lot more when she can see more of what's going on.

Wow Katie she is changing so much and is adorable!! I think she is looking more like your husband. She is just too cute.

As for the carseat... my little boy is almost a year and a half and I finally faced him forward... the reason they have you turn them backwards is because if you had an accident their little necks would not be strong enough for the whiplash. Babies necks are actually broken from whiplash. 20 lbs is just a rule of thumb but some babies could be 9 months and 20 lbs, 9 months their necks wouldn't be strong enough. 1 year is when they are "supposed" to be. Kash's head is a little on the bigger side so his head would be stressful on his neck in an accident that is why I waited longer. I guess I am a freak about it because Elise and her baby experiences at the hospital. Good luck deciding. :)

I would wait until she was a year. Also...don't waiste extra money for a cute car seat...no one sees it but you and your husband, and kynlee of course. Get the blue one so you won't have to keep buying new car seats. She is a cutie and I hope she starts feeling better!
